- How to power a modem partially from off-hook phone line current ?
-
- I am looking for a method to power a V22bis modem (5V-50 mA) partially
- from an off-hook phone line with a zener-clamp termination . The current
- line available depends on the sum of electrical resistances in the
- central-office and phones lines. A 6V8 zener ensures the minimum current
- (25mA) required in the line. The power available from the line is 125mW
- to 500mW.
- When the line current is too low, the extra power needed will come from
- a 6 volts battery.
