  15. How to power a modem partially from off-hook phone line current ?

  17. I am looking for a method to power a V22bis modem (5V-50 mA) partially 
  18. from an off-hook phone line with a zener-clamp termination . The current 
  19. line available depends on the sum of electrical resistances in the 
  20. central-office and phones lines. A 6V8 zener ensures the minimum current 
  21. (25mA) required in the line. The power available from the line is 125mW 
  22. to 500mW. 
  23. When the line current is too low, the extra power needed will come from 
  24. a 6 volts battery.
